Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Community Hubs Programme Director role here at the London Borough of Redbridge.

This is a unique opportunity to drive a programme that will redefine the relationship between Redbridge Council and the residents of the Borough; co-designing and delivering a new model for local services which cater for the changing needs of a rapidly growing and diverse population whilst supporting higher levels of community engagement and activism. Successfully fostering genuine community ownership of the Hubs alongside a sense of belonging for individuals using the spaces they contain will be as important as the delivery of the buildings themselves.

Residents are at the forefront of our work. We have recently published our Borough Plan which was developed in partnership with local residents, the voluntary and community sector, businesses and public sector partners. The Plan sets out three shared goals for the Borough and its residents – ensuring regeneration benefits our communities, being a great place for family life and tackling the root causes of social challenges.

To achieve these goals, the Council will need to rethink its role in the community and its approach to the delivery of statutory and non-statutory services within what remains a very challenging financial climate. The Hubs, the services they provide and the relationships that they support will be a key part of our response.

It’s a great time for the right person to be joining the Council. The Community Hubs programme enjoys strong political support and the Council has committed to the delivery of the first schemes in Seven Kings and Gants Hill as well as the Civic Hub in Ilford. If you’re someone who will revel in turning these commitments into a reality then I look forward to receiving your application.
